NaMED Trains DMCS, hands over Gadgets & Lunches NAMEMIS

  The National Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate NaMED, with support from World Bank; through the Accountable Governance for Basic Service Delivery AGBSD, has trained Monitoring Committees across the country . 

The event took place at the Port Loko District Council. The  two days training attracted participants from  Port Loko , kambia , Freetown  City Councils , and plus WARD  Committee members.

 NaMED also distributed ‘Monitoring gadgets’ to Chief Administrators across the various councils in the country.

In his brief address during the training session, the Deputy Director General of NaMED , Mr. Paul James Allen emphasized the importance of the training especially to member of the committees which he said boils around  the need for accountability, accurate and timely information on Government and Donor funded projects in various Districts across the country .

 According Mr.  Allen , the  training is also taking place across other Districts like Bombali District, which he noted  is a one-stop –shop platform for every project in the country. He emphasized World Bank’s immense support toward the project.

He said  the project’s  lifespan might be up to (5) five years; noting the fact that his office has been  engaging participants before the start of the project inkling series of consultations with stakeholders , this he noted , led to the formation of the DMCs. He encouraged participants to handle and manage the gadgets well for its intended purpose and the good of the country.

The Paramount Chief, Alimamy Sorie from Kambia District, Chairman Port Loko District Council Mr. Tejan Saccoh and the Moyor of Port Loko City Council Alie Badara Tarawally all thanked NaNED for what they described as a viable initiative.

They all stressed the need for sustainability of the project, and encouraged the trainees to crab every opportunity during the training process. They appealed to NaMED to replicate more of such opportunities to Council staff.

The lead facilitator, Director Morlia Conteh of NaMED, gave an Overview of the training which he pointed out revolve around improving the Systems of Local Councils Monitoring and reporting, and for a robust supply chain data platforms for key commodities. This he said will also include supporting the demonstration effect of using data platforms for results reporting and decision-making at local levels to support development and operationalization of the National Monitoring and Evaluation Management Information System NaMEMIS. In her closing courtesy, the Deputy Chief Administrator Ms. Hawa Comber, thanked all present and assured of their support to NaMED and the DMCs.
