Aminata Sesay, One of the Leading candidates for the main opposition, All People’s Congress Party’s Parliamentary symbol at constituency 124, Central District of Freetown, has been described by Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad as more of a philanthropist than a politician.

Aminata, ‘D woman them Mamma’, as she is fondly called, on Friday 6th January 2023, during one of her meetings held  at Bone Suffer, Fisher Street, Susan’s Bay, Big  Wharf, She promised to construct a standard Health facility at the popular slum community, upgrade the  existing ones and solve the problem of water crisis in the community.

Speaking to a very large audience, Aminata said she is a daughter of the soil, and familiar with the problems and challenges faced by that community. She continued that for far too long they have been faced with the same problems, and it is high time someone helped them to address these issues.

She stated that she decided to vie for the APC symbol, because she wants to contribute to nation building, adding that for far too long the constituency has been represented by male MPs in Parliament, but much has not been done to improve the lot of communities in the constituency.

”Am here to give back to my community as I have been doing in other communities. With my two decades’ experience in the Diaspora, as a Health worker, I want to work with everyone, who has the community at heart, so we can address the sanitation challenges, which is a major concern to me, that is why I am starting with a standard health facility and Water,” she stated.

“I admire the courage of the people, for over the years, they have stayed together as one family”, she added.

She urged all APC supporters to continue to be together, as it’s only a matter of months now, the party will surely take over the leadership of the nation again, as Sierra Leoneans have now felt the impact of the party. She stated that constituency 124 is the most populated constituency in Freetown.

Aminata is very passionate about improving the health and education sector, and had solely constructed a health Facility and a Junior Secondary School in Kafu Bullom Chiefdom.

Most activists are now throwing their support behind Madam Aminata, after following her activities. Most of them believed and called on the party to award the symbol to her, as they believe that women representation is highly needed this time round, more so with the 30% quota in the new gender bill.

Kadiatu Bangura, Chair lady of the National Grand Coalition Party (NGC) in constituency 124, stated that, she admires the courage of Aminata Sesay, to come forward and put up a  challenge against men, as the constituency has as always been dominated by men, when it  comes to Parliamentary  leadership.
