Chinese Embassy Donates Medical Equipments

The Chinese embassy on 22nd June 2020 has donated medical supplies to vulnerable groups in Sierra Leone to provide support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The donated items were handed over to the first lady, Fatima Bio at her office at State Avenue, Tower Hill in Freetown. 

His Excellency (H.E) Ambassador Hu Zhangliang started by conveying greetings from H.E. Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping to Her Excellency Fatima Bio and presented the medical items on behalf of the Chinese government.

 Ambassador Hu noted that China would continue to work with Sierra Leone to enhance the wellbeing of vulnerable groups in society, particularly women, children, and youths.

Her Excellency the first lady Fatima Bio received the items and extended her heartfelt appreciation through the Ambassador to the Chinese government as well as her warm greetings to H.E. Prof. Peng Liyuan.

She said that the arrival of the items is timely and gave an assurance that the items would be put to good use for helping the disadvantaged and underprivileged.

On the same occasion, the Chinese embassy in Sierra Leone also donated some stationeries and school bags and other equipment to the office of the first lady for further delivery to those who are in urgent need.

 It should be noted that several donations have been made since the inception of the deadly Corona outbreak from the People’s Republic of China to the People of Sierra Leone.

The Chinese government has been at the forefront in fighting the COVID-19 in Sierra Leone and has been dishing out financial contributions to boosting the economy of the country. The Chinese embassy in Sierra Leone has rendered much support to the government of Sierra Leone in different sectors to boost socio-economic development in Sierra Leone. That is why the support of the Chinese government to the government and people of Sierra Leone should not be underestimated as a way of fighting the COVID-19 in the country.
