In a press release dated 20 June, 2023 the All People’s Congress party stated that it will hold a peaceful protest on Wednesday 21st June, 2023.
The press release referenced a letter to the SLP dated 17th June 2023 informing the IGP of their intention to peacefully march to the offices of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone.
“As you might have learnt, prior to the expiration of the seventy two-hour notification to the police, the Political Parties Regulatory Commission (PPRC) and the Peace Commission convened a meeting which was held yesterday, 19th June, 2023 at 3pm, to resolve the issues we raised vis-a-vis the discrepancies,” the release noted.
According to the press release in the electoral process of the 24th June, 2023 polls machinated by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) However, after the APC had put forward its case, including the Party’s seventy two-hour ultimatum at the meeting, the ECSL were just evasive and circumventing the issues raised by the Party with a view impression on the minds of the members of the international community.
The creating a false meeting ended without any headway. We want to unequivocally state here that, if all the issues are not resolved in today’s 12Pm that we have now call out our supporters nation-wide to converge in 2pm meeting, be notified designated areas to be communicated by the Party for a peaceful protest on Wednesday 21 June, 2023.
