SLFA Announces Official Date for National Divisions Competitions

Sierra Leone Football Association has official announced date for the commencement of the National Divisions Competitions.  According to the announcement, National Division One League is to take place between the 6th of August to the 10th of September, and the Sierra Leone Premier League Playoff to be staged between the 17th to the 30th September 2023.

The year’s Division One League has been formatted to play regionally with each of the five Regions expected to turn in its two best qualifiers to compete in the 2023/24 Sierra Leone Premier League playoff in September. The three best teams from the playoffs will automatically be upgraded to the 2023/24 Premier League season replacing the current relegated teams in line with the newly introduced league system.

In another development Sierra Leonean FIFA badge referees- Humu Marah (Central), Precious Adama Amara (Assistant), and Coach Hannah Conteh (Technical Study Group) have been designated by the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A to officiate in the 2023 Total Energies CAF Women’s Club Championship Qualifiers in Liberia.

The duo of referees, Humu and Precious, who recently successfully underwent the 2023 FIFA Member Association Course for elite referees in Sierra Leone are three of the most outstanding and excelling female officials in the country with a high level fitness and professionalism.

Hannah, who is a veteran national team player and currently a qualified coach, will form part of the tournament’s Technical Study Group with the mandate to identify meritorious women of the matches in the said qualifiers.

This year’s WAFU Zone A Qualifiers is scheduled to take place from the 7th to the 9th August, 2023 in Monrovia, Liberia. In another development, CAF has appointed high-profiled Sierra Leonean Match Commissioner Prince Kai Sa’Quee to preside over Match-day 6 of the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations between Mali and South Sudan, on the 8th September, 2023 in Bamako.
