His excellency  the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Rtd. Brig. Dr. Julius Maada Bio together with the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt has officially commissioned and declared the newly discovered Tobanda Beach in Bonthe District for tourism investments opportunities.

The move would highlight the country`s touristic potential to the outside world and would further enhance local tourism through the movement of indigenes from different parts of the country.

The event which was held on the celebration of Easter and also in celebration of President Bio’s three years in office was attended by government ministers and people from different parts of the country.

There were cultural performances and also performances from top musicians in the country.

The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt expressed delight for the commissioning of the beach while congratulating the President on his Three (3) years in office.

She said that under the leadership of President Bio tourism is now in the heart of Sierra Leoneans while assuring that they will continue to explore more tourist sites in the country.

She maintained that the stakeholders of the district were very cooperative in making the occasion a success. “With the declaration of the president, Tobanda Beach is now open to the rest of the world,” she concluded.

Commissioning the beach, president Bio ordered the Tourism Minister to take all necessary steps to showcase the beach to the rest of the country. He said the beach is very impressive and has been there all along but could not be noticed by even those who are indigenes of the district, noting that they will add Tobanda to the various tourist sites in the country as it is a very good spot for ecotourism, hence the vegetation is undisturbed.

He called on the private sector to work collaboratively with the Tourism Ministry in investing in the beach because of its unbelievable touristic potentials as it will also create employment for the people of Tobanda.
