Stolen Child matter Goes High Court

Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of court No.1 has yesterday sent Sarah Koroma to the High Court for further trial for allegedly attempting to sell a five-year-old child for the sum of Le25M at big market central Freetown.

Before the committal of the matter to the high court, Magistrate Bonnie said that the prosecution call five witnesses including the mother of the child and all the evidence of the witnesses were collaborated and the accused also admitted of selling the child.

She said having looked at the entire evidence adduce by the prosecution before the court, she said she is satisfied that the prosecution has proved their case beyond reasonable and so the accused is fit to stand trial at the High Court.

She therefore commits the matter to the High Court for further trial without bail.

The accused was arraigned on two counts of child stealing and human trafficking contrary to law.

According to the indictment, the police States that the accused on 11 May and 10June 2020 at 37 Mafara Waterloo stole five-year-old child against the will of her parents. The indictment continues that the accused on Wednesday 19 June 2020 at big market Wallace Johnson Street Freetown trafficked a child below eighteen years to with five years
