President Julius Maada Bio has in a Press Release from State House dated 6th July 2020 appointed Anthony Yiehwoe Brewah as the new Attorney General and Minister of Justice with immediate effect. He replaces Dr. Priscilla Schwartz.
This change cannot be unconnected to the most recent misguided treason trial (Palo Conteh vs The state) in a 16 count charges in which the state lost woefully in 14 counts and succeeded in convicting Palo Conteh on two count charges.
The new Attorney General and Minister of Justice is a seasoned lawyer with vast experience in the country’s legal system, and his appointment would see him pair up with Umaru Napoleon Koroma, who also doubles as the ruling party’s Secretary-General, who is the present Deputy Justice Minister.
Mr. Brewah who was formerly the Minister of Local Government under President Bio’s government was also sacked earlier this year. He is the third appointed Attorney General under the new Direction Administration.
