SLFA receives $1.5 M

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Thursday 30th July, 2020 in a press conference held at the Atlantic Hall in Freetown revealed to sport stakeholders and the people of Sierra Leone of the 1.5 million dollars FIFA/CAF COVID-19 Relief Funds they received. 

The SLFA Secretary General Kris Kamara said that the money is not a grant or loan, but said the money is to aid sport promoters in the country. He added that the funds came in because of the coronavirus, which has affected all sectors of life nationwide. He furthered that the money has criteria for ‘recovers’ as the funders, FIFA and CAF has explained to them showing them how they should disburse the money.

The Secretary General Kris Kamara says the beneficiaries have to be registered clubs, regionally or nationally, he also said that referees and coaches of various registered clubs will benefit from the 1.5 million dollars. He calls on the government to Fastrack the issues of football, “we want to start football in the country that is why we are calling on the government to lift the restriction” he maintained.
