The General Secretary for the Sierra Leone Fellowship of Evangelical Students William Yandi Conteh has on Tuesday, 18th August, 2020 donated bags of rice to residents of Aitkins Street, Murray town Community in Freetown.

The gesture targets house hold residents within the community Mr. Conteh told Public Review.

He said his move has nothing to do with politics but that it forms part of his organization’s usual humanitarian gesture.

Secretary General said he had been residing in the community for several years and had since noticed that most of the inhabitants in the community are challenged to cope up with their lives –especially to feed their homes.

This, he continued, moved his ‘’Godly’’ sense of reasoning to help the vulnerable poor residents within the community to make such donation in the form of bags of rice to each house hold.

The SLEFES Secretary General said been helping other vulnerable groups and communities across the country particularly his home town in Kambia district where he said he had been helping pupils with school materials; plus other no food items that point to the development of his home town.

“This is just the first phase, the second phase will be at Kroobay Community; and thirdly to my Hometown Kambia district in the northern part of Sierra Leone” he said.

According to him, his organization will continue to do more to help poor communities and groups-nothing that their goal is to help mankind and the needy.

For this gesture, Mr. Conteh said, is just the beginning  for the Murray town community which he described as a lovely community of like minds who accommodate every shades of mind regardless of origin , or colour.

He apologized to the community people whom he said may not be lucky to benefit from the gifts.

But, he assured that others may benefit in the future from similar donations.

’’ I know we cannot please everyone within the community; but we will continue to do the little we can to help more poor people within this locality in general.’’

In his statement the chairman of Murray town community Samuel Williams said he was very pleased with the gesture noting that most of the people with the community were in need of such support especially at this when the Covid 19 is ravaging the world.

‘’This donation comes at the right time, we can’t thank you and your organisation the more for such a wonderful gesture ‘’ he said.

Sento Kamara, one of the beneficiaries of NO. 35 Aitkins Street, expressed thanks; and appreciation to SLEFES and Mr. Conteh for what she described a big help to them.

She said it had not been easy to take care of her home as a breadwinner and a mother of children.

The rice she said will help them during the rains which she described as a tough moment for most homes.
