CRIG Offers Machines to Freetown City Council for Clearing & Waste Disposal

The China Railway International Group (CRIG) has supported the Freetown City Council (FCC) with an excavator machine, two dumper trucks with full fuel tanks, including labor staff for the clearing and proper disposal of waste at the Kingtom dump site in Freetown.

The dump site supervisor, Kabba Samura, at the Freetown City Council Dump site in Kingtom said that he has had several engagements with top officials of the Freetown City Council on how they could manage and help the situation of clearing and proper waste deposal at the Kaingtom dump site. He also said that this is not the first time the China Railway International Group (CRIG) has offered such support to them, adding that the management of the Freetown City Council always requests the company’s support when the need arises.

He further expressed his gratitude and appreciated the effort taken by the company for giving such support to FCC which was the right time they expect such help from the company. “This is the actual time we used to face serious constraints as waste depositors brought in waste at random, especially when we move to the festive season,” he explained.

Speaking to Aruna Okina Kanu, the Safety and Personnel Manager at the China Railway International Group (CRIG), he explained that they supported the Freetown City Council with an excavator machine, two dumper trucks with full tanks, including labor Staff for the clearing and proper waste disposal at the Kingtom Dump Site in Freetown. According to him, the company has always offered support to the government of Sierra Leone, especially the Freetown City Council in support of the previous monthly general cleaning exercise introduced by the President of Sierra Leone. “During the previous monthly general cleaning exercise, CRIG offered some loader machines and heavy-duty trucks to the Freetown City Council base on what they requested” the Safety Manager expressed. He added that his company is always ready to render support to the government of Sierra Leone as long as the safety of the public is concerned.

Mr. Okina Kanu also appreciated the effort made by his institution as a foreign company that is always ready to support the people of Sierra Leone, and he called on other companies to follow the footstep of CRIG for the progress of Sierra Leone.

Aminata Conteh, a resident at the Kingtom Dump Site explained to the medium that the Freetown City Council has always found it very difficult to clear huge waste as they do not have heavy truck machines to do such work. Mrs. Conteh continued by expressing his sincere gratitude to the China Railway International Group for providing such support to the Freetown City Council by ensuring that waste is cleared and deposited properly.
