Her Excellency the First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio has donated one thousand (1,000) bags of cement towards the upgrading of the Segbwema Central Mosque as well as towards the upgrading of the Church in Segbwema where her husband used to worship when he was a military commander at Segbwema during the Civil War.

Each religious house will have 500 bags of cement totalling 1,000 bags of cement to be delivered to Segbwema before the end of this month of March 2023.

H.E. First Lady Bio made the pronouncement on Tuesday March 21st 2023 during a meeting she had accompanied her husband H.E. President Julius Maada Bio to attend in Segbwema Town.

First Lady Maada Bio, whose maternal grandmother was born and grew up in Segbwema, said the donation, was not just because she is herself a grandchild of Segbwema but more as a continued show of her deep appreciation for the votes which the people of Segbwema cast for her husband during the 2018 General Elections.

“As a Muslim it is obligatory for me to help my fellow Muslims especially now that we are starting the month of Ramadan. I am giving similar support to the Christians because my husband is a Catholic,” she noted.

The First Lady, described Segbwema as a place that is dear to her husband and that, as the First Couple of Sierra Leone, they will do all they can to develop the Chiefdom alongside other parts of the country.

“We have heard your current needs. They are legitimate and we will look into them soonest,” she said to the gathering after listening to some of the felt needs of the Segbwema Township.
